A great sander!
We used this to remove paint lines remaining from wallpaper marks left after taking down paper that had been up for years. The thought of hand sanding an entire room was scary. The Skil sander performed beautifully and we were able to get the room done in a fraction of the time I expected. The advantage of having the dust collector is unbelieveable! Through hours of sanding there was almost no dust blown throughout the room. It had to be emptied several times, and that is not the easiest job. You have to take your finger or a brush and reach inside to loosen much of the dust. That isn't hard, but sort of gross!The only other problem is the weight of the unit. It is difficult to hold it at head level or above for a lengthy time, but still much easier than having to manually sand at those heights.I give this sander an A+ rating. Top to learn more
Skil does it again
I've owned a skil drill for many years (23) and it still out works my newer drills. So I thought I'd try one of their sanders. these sander are comfortable and work very well. Time will tell. At this point its 5 stars, and if it lasts anything like their other tools I own, it will pay for itself very soon. Top to learn more
Refurbished genie
I bought this refurbished mini sander to do some light paint prep work. I ended up refinishing a coffee table by sanding down to the bare wood with this little guy. What a champ. Even if a refurbished model doesn't last as long as a new one, I have already gotten my money's worth. Top to learn more

Skil 7292-01 2 Amp 1/4 sheet Palm Sander
This is a great sander. I have used it with different grades of sandpaper and the results are the same each time. The palm grip is very comfortable, which makes using it for long periods at a time a simple exercise with no tingling in the hand after use, from vibration. The cannister for collecting the dust fits firmly but easy to remove. It would not vibrate off during use. The pressure indicator is very useful as it helps the user to avoid excessive pressure on the unit, thus enabling the extension of the service life of the sander. However, the sandpaper with which it was shipped loses its grit very soon and would tear easily when sanding corners or edges of the project. Nevertheless, I make no hesitation in recommending this very good performing sander.

Pretty Good Finish Sander
I own 3 finish sanders a Makita, Skil & a Black & Decker! This Skil I put in the middle. It works well for me, it has less vibration then a Makita and certainly much better then the B&D I also have, which is a hand killer! Its does a good job of removing material from my projects quickly. The dust collection system is not as good as a Makita, doesn't take long before its blowing out here and there. The makita uses a bag and keeps dust to a minimum. Also the rubber pad is susceptable to damgage with the paper hole punch! So care is recommended here Also, as with any sander, blow them out with compressed air from time to time to keep them clean and running well!The clamping mechanisim is a bit more difficult to use then my others, but haven't found one that is aggravation free yet! There have been no slippage problems!! The palm grip is nice and I found it easy to guide and move around. Really does a nice job on MDF and have had no problems on finer wood either. Skil Palm Sander
This is a perfect product for my uses. I needed a hand held palm sander to do a few jobs that were not right for the larger belt sander I have or the circular attachment that goes on my drill. Okay, but Poor Switch Design
I liked this Skil plam sander at first, though not as comfortable or powerful as my old Makita. Light duty, yes, but that's what I was looking for. The sealed switch seemed like a great idea, too. Unfortunately, after a couple of weeks of (very light) use, the switch broke. First it locked up, then it would toggle loosely back and forth without doing anything. It is completely non-functional. Sadly, for me, I used this sander so infrequently that by the time the switch failed my warranty period was up. Inexpensive, but I wouldn't recommend this unit for heavy or regular use.
