Powerful Stuff
I had initially passed this by and thought a smaller hammer drill would meet my needs. Turns out, if you want to go through fieldstone and granite and other really hard stuff, and if you want to drill deeply into said materials, you need this. For my particular project, I needed to drill through a number of rocks of different sizes and composition ~ about 15' if it was all stacked up. With the 1/2" hammer drill and the speeds I was seeing, I think I calculated something like 40 man-hours of work or more, and probably an equal number of drill bits getting destroyed.I took this out into my yard on my test stone (3-4" thick, maybe 1" deep hole from a half hour's work with the 1/2" drill), and in about 30 seconds finished off that first hole and did another one as well. The next day, over the course of two hours or so ~ with breaks to test fit pieces of stone ~ I was able to complete all my drilling for that particular project.I was also able to use a...

Greatest thing since BOOBS!!
The very first thing i noticed about this particular model was its weight. To a guy like me heavy means well built, and this thing is one heavy mother. It's great because it has enough power to jack hammer the hell out of anything, and with the turn of a knob, you can drill a 6" hole through 3 feet of granite. This is the greatest most magnificent power tool i have ever owned, and i own many. I've been a plumber for many years and I swear by Milwaukee tools. The batteries are great, the tools are always well built, and their selfeed wood bits are the absolute best in the industry. Thanks Milwaukee, and thanks Amazon for the sweet deal.

Wonderful Tool
I have owned one of these before (a used item that had seen very hard use). I bought this one new and it is awesome!>The new side handle is longer offering better control.>Letting the machine do the work works wonders. I have only used it to hammer through 5" of frozen asphalt (with the DeWalt asphalt cutting blade) so far. It took a few minutes but worked well. It is not a compressed air jack-hammer but it will do the job. It will only take a bit longer.>Incredibly solid construction. Heavy!>For driving rebar into landscaping ties for small retaining walls this works like a charm!I am so happy with my purchase!
