Simplicity is a virtue
These rack towers are such a no-brainer that a blind person could mount them by touch. (I hope I did not offend anyone--just making a point.) Some rigs have very wide rails, in particular a two-year model of Forester and of course, the cool looking but inadequate rails on the Xterra. You must consult Thule's Fit Guide. The knob/lock/tightening tool is pure genius. Like all manufacturers, Thule has some hits and some very few misses, but this set-up is a home run. Highly recommended. Just consult their Fit Guide and you'll be racked up in no time.

The Thule 450 Crossroad Railing-mounted Foot Pack for Car Roof Racks is designed for vehicles with factory rack side rails, and fits more vehicles than any other railing carrier. The Crossroad uses a foot style that complements all vehicles, and is easy to install with just the turn of a handle, no tools required.
The 450 Crossroad feet give you maximum strength and a custom fit via rubber-coated steel straps, and provide for full rail protection with integrated rubber linings. The feet are constructed of galvanized, stamped steel and nylon, and have a black polyester-powder coating that provides vibration damping and protects against slippage. This pack comes with all the necessary zinc-iron plated steel mounting hardware.
The 450 Crossroad Railing-mounted foot pack is compatible with slide-in load bars, weighs six pounds, and can be locked via Thule's One Key System lock cylinders (not included). User's should note that each foot uses five inches of bar space, and requires Thule Load Bars and locks to complete this roof-rack system.

Rooftop Carrier made in the USA
I like WeatherTech products, so when I saw this one, I decided to buy it, and stop searching all the other choices. I like the WeatherTech Company, and they have a REP for perfect products!After a trip from Ohio to South Florida and back, I felt I knew enough about it to review it and give some general info. So this is based on ONE long trip in the rain... (I am a retired truck driver, so have some knowledge in this area)First, it's well made, it has it's own storage bag that yes, it really will fit back into!Got the usual great Amazon service! Fast delivery, no damage, and lowest price I could find!Soft or Hard - which to choose?Here's my thinking on the subject: Hard is better, but much more expensive, and takes much more room to store when not in use. excellent product
I purchased this for my SUV for an 8 hour trip at Xmas. The extra space was wonderful. We traveled in 6 degree weather and the bag did not split or crack. It was easy to install. The zippers were smooth to close and the straps held the bag very secure to the roof rack.I decided to purchase this particular carrier based on the reviews from Amazon customers, and the price was a good deal. I do not have the space for a hard sided carrier. This folds up nice and stores in a drawstring bag!This is the first review I have posted on a purchased product, I highly recommend it.

Strong & Durable
I've had a Thule rack for 20 years with the same bars.Ski racks, kayak racks, even just the bars to carry oversized items - they never bent.Durable rubber coating.I just purchased another rack for another car - I highly recommend Thule.Note - order the end caps - exposed steel on the ends otherwise - and, contrary to the photo, they are not included.

About Thule
To say that Thule’s beginnings in the U.S. were humble would be an understatement. Founding member Ake Skeppner sold products at windsurf competitions on the New England shoreline, exhibited the product line at a number of different trade shows, and even canvassed local retailers in the greater New York area, all from his "office"--a now-famous station wagon. Initial success was found in the small but growing sport of windsurfing where a strong, reliable roof rack was an indispensable piece of equipment. This was quickly followed by success in the ski business where Thule's Swedish heritage certainly helped the product gain rapid acceptance.
By the mid-1980s, the company sold products directly to ski and windsurfing shops but sold through distributors to address the large and growing bike business. A risky decision was made to terminate these distributor relationships and sell direct to retailers through a network of independent sales representatives. Much of the company's market success today can be traced to that decision. Shortly after, Ake hired an engineer and set up a small assembly plant in Elmsford, New York in order to design and manufacture bike carriers that would offer the features demanded by the U.S. consumer and compete effectively with other racks on the market.
The company has since grown rapidly through product innovation, a commitment to quality, and the continuance of a strong entrepreneurial spirit as well as continuing to evolve their products to meet the needs of users.
Bars great; picture of product slightly misleading
This is a pretty straightforward purchase: two Thule-brand bars of dimension 1.25" x 0.75" -- exactly what I needed to replace my old (ancient!) Terzo-brand bars that finally rusted out and gave way. Only 3 stars are awarded as I found the picture misleading: the end caps are NOT included, I'll have to buy these separately now. Had I known (or read the written description which omits mention of the caps) I would have sprung the extra $5 to get the caps included in my free shipping.

Work great, but attachments can damage skin and end caps are NOT included
These bars work really well, but there are two things to know:1) the end caps are pictured, but are NOT included with these. The end caps come with the foot pack or can be purchased separately2) when you attach things like Thule bike racks or ski attachments, the plastic skin can become cut by tightening the attachments to the bar. This can lead to rust and failure over the very long term. They should have used a tiny bit tougher plastic skin.Be sure to use the end caps or they will rust from the inside out.

1st time... not good... but now they've got it right!
I have ordered from these guys 3 times now. I originally bought this product about 18 months ago... and I was not too happy with the product quality and design of the first version. The current model that they sell is much nicer than the one that is pictured as of my review (the current model they ship has the lock in the base and not in the bar itself... 10x better in my opinion because of the ease of installation and strength as the previous model was easy to break when tightening).To be honest, the reason I have purchased this same product 3 times was not for 3 different cars... but because my wife or I have hit the garage door a couple times when it wasn't open all the way and luckily the cross bars came off and not the rails from my wife's GL450 : )The new design of this last set I purchased in Nov 2011 is as good if not better than the Thule brand roof rack and is easy to install and includes all the tools necessary.If you are looking for an...
