Interesting story about a hard to believe race around the world with a stipulation about the vintage of the vehicles to use. Shares the struggles of keeping the car on the road due to repairs. Going through different countries, staying places and eating.When they reach North America they are taken through some of the more difficult terrain to keep the difficulty of the race at a decent level.A facinating read that any car-lover will enjoy and you will not be able to top this tale with any commute you will ever experience.

First of all, I have to let the reader know that I was very involved with the Around The World event. I met the "tour" at Shelby, Montana, and followed them all the way to Newark, NJ, shooting photos and posting daily reports on my web site (no longer active). I also helped to promote the event while it was in the U.S. which resulted in large crowds at several overnight stops, and a big celebration for the day off in Duluth, Minnesota.Kevin Clemens reports are quite accurate as to the events on this once-in-a-lifetime journey. Beginning his career with the 1989 Pirelli Marathon Rally, by 1997 Young and the Classic Rally Association had created the Peking to Paris Motor Challenge. This memoir recounts the author’s adventures while competing in the Around the World in 80 Days Motor Challenge from May to July 2000. Beginning with his search for a sponsor and his deliberations in choosing a 1959 Mercedes-Benz 220S, it follows him from his arrival in London through various countries including Italy, Greece, Former Russian Republics, China, Canada, the United States, Morocco, Spain and France. Clemens provides an up-close view of places most westerners never get to see and of the rigors of competition over varying terrain in an old car. Good story
I found the subject interesting: a race with an entrance fee in excess of $100,000 involving cars built before 1967. It's part travelogue, part human-interest story, with an element of risk: Even on a trip as carefully planned as this, the unexpected occurs. Several cars broke down and forced their owners to abandon the race. The author is very knowledgeable about cars, and very hands-on. I especially enjoyed his detailed account of his own car preparation and his repairs throughout the rally. And as it turned out, the winning car, a 1967 Hillman, was the sedan version of my old Sunbeam Alpine Coupe, not exactly a paragon of durability.

Versatile, well made product
I'm very satisfied with this product, been using it for about 2 months now. I wanted it primarily because of the vent clip, which works well enough except it didn't put it where I wanted it in relation to my steering wheel. Instead I used the suction cup. This suction cup is phenomenal. I set it once and its stuck since. Its done so in hot to below-freezing temps and is solid enough that I can make orientation adjustments without fear of popping it off.The actual grip for this phone is well thought out. The grip itself is a padded foam, so it will conform to the shape of your phone. Over only a few uses it retained that shape... not sure if my next phone will suffer from a loose fit, but my current one is very thin, so it shouldn't matter. I'd rather the foam be sturdy like this stuff than flimsy because without the foam the phone would fall out.The alignments are very versatile however they are all stepped, so you can't adjust it to whatever you want.
