Expected better dimensional quality from Bosch
As the title says, I expected better quality from Bosch. Just finished installing this water pump today on my parents 1992 Mercedes 300E. It was tough to install but that has to do mostly with the Mercedes not the water pump. Regarding the water pump, I will say that there was a small "bump" on the casting near one of the mounting holes. I filed it down so that the bolt head would be able to seat flat. Also, the large "nipple" that attaches to an approximately 2" long piece of rubber hose going to the cylinder head "nipple" was about a 1/8" off to the side. In other words, the "nipple" is about an 1/8" off of where the original nipple was. I noticed this during the install as the 2 "Nipples" almost butt up against each other connected by the 2" long rubber tubing. This discrepancy made attaching the water pump a bit more difficult. I actually took the new pump off and held the original one back in so that I could verify the original's "Nipple" lined up perfectly. Lastly,...
