Versatile, well made product
I'm very satisfied with this product, been using it for about 2 months now. I wanted it primarily because of the vent clip, which works well enough except it didn't put it where I wanted it in relation to my steering wheel. Instead I used the suction cup. This suction cup is phenomenal. I set it once and its stuck since. Its done so in hot to below-freezing temps and is solid enough that I can make orientation adjustments without fear of popping it off.The actual grip for this phone is well thought out. The grip itself is a padded foam, so it will conform to the shape of your phone. Over only a few uses it retained that shape... not sure if my next phone will suffer from a loose fit, but my current one is very thin, so it shouldn't matter. I'd rather the foam be sturdy like this stuff than flimsy because without the foam the phone would fall out.The alignments are very versatile however they are all stepped, so you can't adjust it to whatever you want. I LOVE this mount
I haven't had this too long, but so far I LOVE it! Here's why:1. I have an iPhone 4 in a nice thick protective case, and the arms on this mount are angled perfectly, and have a nice cushy foam on them, so they close gently but firmly on the sides. Holds the phone perfectly, which my last mount did not.2. The mount also has a "foot" that my iPhone sits on, and one feature I didn't see mentioned before is that this foot has a wide hole in it, big enough for the charge cord to fit through! On one of my other mounts, I had to leave the phone pushed up high in the holder, and snake the cord up and around the foot. With this one, as long as I've put my phone in straight, I can just push the cord up through the hole and plug it in, without moving my phone at all.3. This is a quality product from a company with superior customer support. For the price you cannot beat the build and materials of this mount. I was very impressed with it's quality compared to the one my girlfriend has from Verizon (we are never buying the Verizon one again, its useless).You notice I mentioned superior customer support. Right out of the box I did have an issue. My 08 VW Rabbit has a very very thin CD slot. The blades would not fit into my deck. I emailed Mountek and got a reponse from a person in <5min. 4 emails and 20 minutes later they had agreed to send me thinner replacement blades to swap out. The best spot for the microphone is probably the A pillar (at the top). It sounds complicated, but the microphone took about 15 min. to install. I ran the cable down through the rubber seal on the side of the door, but how you mount the microphone depends on your car.The Bluetooth works very well. What I start up the car, the radio automatically connects to my phone. Music through Bluetooth sounds pretty good, although it can be a little fizzy. I purchased this Dual receiver because I wanted my phone to connect via bluetooth. Previously, I was using the aux/line in connector to connect my phone up to play audio and receive calls. The problem with this is that if you decided to switch the recevier over to CD or radio, any calls you receive on the phone go to... nowhere. With the bluetooth functionality, any incoming call mutes the other audio and plays the call over the speaker. I have tested this part of it, and it works well.One caveat: the included microphone has a clip that doesn't seem to clip to anything. I tried it all over the car: rearview mirror, air vents, plastic trim, nothing. I did finally get it to clip onto one of the air vents, but every time I touch it, it pops off. I will end up using a piece of double sided tape or velcro to fix this. I also tried it in my wife's car, a Ford Escape, with similar issues.
