The vacuum/pump works great, so much quicker, cleaner and easier than jacking up the car, draining the oil, jacking the car back down, putting in oil, changing the filter (from the top with a Mercedes), draining the oil into recycle jugs and... Maybe Mercedes designs their engines/oil pans to allow for complete evacuation this way. When I paid the local Mercedes dealer more than $240, if memory serves, for the “initial service,” (which didn’t consist of much more than the oil change and refilling of fluids), I saw them use a similar device to change the oil. No jacking the car up and getting underneath(NO drain plug on oil pan). Now I vacuum, pump, put in oil, change the filter, and set the milk jugs with oil by the curb for recycling. Key is to ensure engine is warmed up before pumping out the oil from the oil dipstick hole. It’s easier than dropping the pan. I know that Mercedes recommends the evacuation method for oil changes. Have been using the Mityvac 7201 for about a year with only one small problem, I over pumped the pressure and walked away, the back pressure pushed oil back through the pump. Haven’t tried it for pumping in but it works well for me. I highly recommend if you have a car with top mount oil filter. I also use it to draw out some of the transmission fluid every time I change the car oil. I love it and highly recommend it for anyone wanting an easy method to perform their own oil changes.
