Parrot car kit, great product
I just completed the installation of this unit in my Chevrolet Avalanche. The one thing that was not known to me prior to purchase is the need for an aftermarket wiring harness adapter to hook the Parrot unit to my factory Bose system. I did some research online and found only one company who provided the harness for $80.00 so do your research before buying. The harness that comes with the unit is based on european ISO connectors found in mercedes benz, volkswagen and other cars, you could splice into your existing system but it is NOT recommended what so ever.Once the harness arrived the install was easy for me since I have previous experience with removing the factory system, avoiding the theftlock etc. The unit was easy to mount on the dashboard with the provided double sided tape, the microphone also has many different adapters for different locations, I used the smallest self sticking pad placing the mic on the top of the steering column between the steering wheel...

The Real Deal
I played with one of these at Best Buy and thought the display was hard to read and the knob and buttons felt cheap. When I ordered my unit I got the newer all BLACK version display panel and these things have been improved. I chose the 3100 model because I realized I don't have a lot of space on my cars dash to put a lot of displays.I ordered mine with not just a custom wiring harness for my 1998 Accord EX, but with a custom wiring harness which includes prewired mute configuration (quickconnectproducts dot com). I was dreading having to run the wiring for power until I realized I didn't have too!! The power is also automatically taken via the wiring harness from the power going to the radio. I installed it myself in about 1 hour.The Parrot has some thoughtful ergonomic design. Very functional. Works great with the HTC Touch ... 90% of the time
If you're anything like me, you've probably been coaxed (or coerced) by you're friendly local law enforcement into buying a bluetooth solution for your car. I've owned bluetooth headsets for about 3 years, but the newest California State law mandates that by July 1, 2008, drivers must be handsfree or they WILL be ticketed (with exceptions of course i.e. emergencies). My habitual forgetfulness, namely me leaving my BT headset at home a couple days a week, led me to insist on a solution that was impossible to forget. Enter the Parrot CK3100.Be prepared to spend -AT LEAST- $250 for purchase AND installation. And again, if you're anything like me, for the love of god DON'T try this install yourself. Complicated is an understatement.Professional installation takes about 2 hours. Once complete, ask to sync your phone with the unit BEFORE you leave. Good feature set for the price. Probably not as great as more expensive units.
I purchased and installed this unit yesterday. It does do what it says: radio/CD/Bluetooth connection for phone and audio streaming. It does seem to do these things well, and pairing with my iPhone 3G (w/3.0 software) was easy enough. However, there are a few limitations/annoyances that you should be aware of:1) Single-line display gives no input as to who is on the phone, or what is playing through streaming bluetooth audio. Not a problem for me, but numerous car stereos (all more expensive) will do that.2) The microphone used for bluetooth calling is embedded in the unit. For me, this is a plus: the lack of external microphone makes my care look cleaner. For others, this may be a minus: the embedded microphone is probably less effective at picking up your voice than an external microphone would be. If you plan on talking through the phone a lot, you may want to spring for a more expensive unit that focuses on doing this task better.3)...

Money well spent for Bluetooth audio streaming.
My main motivation for purchasing this receiver was to have the ability to stream audio from my iPhone 3GS. I've only had this unit installed for a couple of days , so I can't speak for the reliability but I find the sound quality to be excellent in that regard. Before this I was using the Motorola T505 FM transmitter, which I had for about four months. It was great at first but after a while I got tired of changing frequencies for clear signals and having to charge the battery. The Sony MEXBT2700 took care of all that and now I have one less device to deal with, making life just a little simpler which is key for me. One minor annoyance for me was that, although the iPhone 3GS has limited AVRCP support (play, pause & stop) with OS 3.0, the play/pause commands do not seem to be working for me with the remote as outlined in the manual. Play/Pause does however work for me via the receiver itself. Not really a big deal but I just thought it might be worth mentioning for the other iPhone...

This little box is very useful. In my case it already paid for itself. I was able to clear some service codes (misfire of a cylinder). In the past I paid $69 for the mechanic to just look up and clear the code.I really like the fact that ScanGauge displays all kinds of engine data in real time. Other devices such as the CarChip save it and then need to be connected to a computer in order to access the data.In my opinion, the ScanGauge is worth every cent.

The ScanGaugeII includes a diagnostic scan tool that can check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), clear the codes, and turn off the "Check Engine" light on 99% of 1996 and newer vehicles. (However, this feature may not work on some trouble codes in Dodge vehicles.) If any DTCs are found, the ScanGauge will show how many there are as well as the codes themselves. Then you can use the Internet or repair manual to find out which is the failed part is, so you can repair it yourself or know what needs to be fixed at the mechanic's shop.

Multifunction Trip Computer
Four sets of data are automatically recorded on the trip computer: Current, Today, Previous Day, and Tank Trip. The "current" trip restarts after the engine has been off for more than 3 minutes. The "today" trip restarts after the vehicle has not moved for 9 hours, and the data from "today" is moved to "previous day" when you restart the car, so you don't have to reset the computer every time you begin a trip. "Tank trip" resets when you fill up the tank. It can provide you with "to empty" data and other useful information, which can be viewed any time during the trip. ScanGauge 2 Works As Advertised
I've had the scanGuage II for about 3 weeks at the time of this review. I had bought the unit because I was interested in finding out about how my car, a 2002 Toyota Solara was holding up and what the car computer might tell me.First the cons: 1. The cord is too long. The total run from the ODB II port to where the unit is mounted is about a 15 inches, top. It would have been nice to have sockets on both the plug and the SG II. Include a long and short cord, or just have it so that cat5e network cable could be used. Why? Because storing the excess cable somewhere is a problem, I ended up storing in inside the panel protecting the steering column, and may have created a short in one vehicle lighting circuits. 2. The velcro is too weak to hold the unit in place. I ended up using Radio Shack LockTite fasteners (the clear ones) instead. 3. The manual leaves a lot to be desired, especially the pictures...
